Convert a PayPal account statement PDF to Excel
PayPal's own CSV export is a raw activity dump with a column layout that changes by report type, while the monthly statement PDF is the tidy, reconciled version — and the only one that carries a running balance. Converting the PDF gives you the statement your bookkeeping actually needs. Every row is checked against the running balance before you get the file, so the figures reconcile instead of just looking plausible.

Turning that PDF into Excel
- 1Download the PDF Take the PayPal account statement using the steps above.
- 2Upload it here One statement or a multi-page month — the first 3 pages convert free, with no account.
- 3Check the rows, then download You see the extracted rows and the balance check before paying for anything. A ready-to-use .xlsx spreadsheet, with date, description, amount and balance.
In Excel
What the PayPal file does when you open it
The conversion is half the job. This is the other half.
- 1It opens straight into Excel — no import wizard, no Text to Columns. Amounts are stored as numbers and dates as dates, so =SUM() over the amount column works the moment the file is open, and sorting by date puts the month in order rather than in alphabetical order.
- 2The header row is frozen and filters are switched on, so a 300-row statement stays navigable without setting either up.
- 3A second sheet, Reconciliation, carries the arithmetic: the opening balance, money in, money out, the closing balance printed on the statement, and the difference between that and the rows. It travels with the file, so it is still there when the file reaches a client or an auditor.
- 4Any row the parser could not resolve confidently is shaded amber and scored in a confidence column. Filter that column to review those rows first rather than reading all of them.

What happens to the account statement you upload
You're handing a financial document to a website you found through a search result. Here is exactly what it does with it.
- Retention
- 60 minutes. Your PDF and the spreadsheet built from it are deleted on a timer, whether you download or not.
- Accounts
- None. No signup, no password, no email required to convert or to pay.
- Where it runs
- One server in London. PDFs are parsed there; the text isn't handed to an outside service.
- If it's wrong
- 14 days, refunded. And you see the extracted rows before you're asked for money.
Questions
PayPal account statements, specifically
How do I convert a PayPal account statement to Excel?
Upload your PayPal account statement PDF, and LedgerLift returns a ready-to-use .xlsx spreadsheet with date, description, amount and balance columns — usually in seconds.
Can I export my PayPal account statement to Excel?
Yes. PayPal doesn't export to Excel directly, so download the account statement as a PDF and convert it here — no manual copying.
How do I download my PayPal account statement as a PDF?
Log in at paypal.com and go to paypal.com/reports. Open 'Statements' and find the month you need. Select 'Request' next to that month if the statement hasn't been generated yet — in many countries it appears automatically by the 10th. When it's ready, select 'Download' and save the PDF. PayPal keeps up to seven years of activity. Then upload it here.
What does it cost to convert a PayPal account statement?
The first 3 pages are free and need no account. Past that it's $3 to unlock the statement you just converted, which also leaves you credit towards the next one. Full pricing.
Is it accurate?
The extracted rows are re-added and compared against the running balance printed on the account statement. If the two agree, the figures are arithmetically sound; any row that can't be resolved confidently is flagged in the preview rather than quietly guessed at.
Is my data secure?
Your PDF is deleted automatically after processing and we keep no copy. There's no account to create, and we never sell, share or train on financial data.
Which PayPal accounts are supported?
Personal and business PayPal statements, in any currency. Multi-page documents are fine.
